Company team building in the wine country – perfect idea. Just a couple hours away from the office, Webmarketing123 ventured on a trip to Napa last Friday. We passed by Nickel & Nickel, Cakebread, Opus, Robert Mondavi Winery to name a few vineyards, as well as the famous Rutherford Grill, Mustards, Michael Chiarello’s Bottega, the popular French bakery Bouchon, and of course French Laundry.
We started at Whitehall Lane, welcomed by an enthusiastic and passionate wine connoisseur to greet us with our first tastings. A crisp Sauvignon Blanc followed by a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and their special Belmuscato dessert wine was a delightful start to the trip.
Excursions like this with your company give you time away from the routine of the office to learn more about your colleagues and chat on a personal level. The picnic at V. Sattui Winery was the optimal spot for relaxing with great company, enjoying good food and wine, and taking notice of your beautiful surroundings. A change of perspective can also come in times like these where new project ideas spark and your creative mind soars.
For myself, the time spent with my fellow colleagues was a time of learning, reflection, and motivation for our future marketing initiatives to distinguish our unique service from others in the field. A fiercely dedicated group, it was difficult to untie everyone from their laptops and mobile devices for the day. In the end, it was a memorable experience and I urge all companies to promote events like this to cultivate stronger colleague relationships outside of the office and in a new environment.
Advancing my wine knowledge, I also learned that Brix is the sugar content of the grapes in each type of wine. Red wines have a higher level of brix than white wines and all are different depending on the fruit juice in each type of grape. Interesting “food” for thought!
